About me!

The one!

This is me. I'm 23 years old, and I'm a dutchy! Thats right, I'm from the country where 'everything' is possible, smoking marihuana is legal, bicyclists have more rights than cardrivers and Amsterdam (our capital)  is 'the place to be'. At least that's what all the foreign people, I've met during my life, seem to think when I mention "I'm from Holland". They think of Holland like it's the 'promised land' :-).

Why on earth would I want to leave this promised land you may wonder?  After my gradutation from college in 2008, I've been working fulltime in the Real Estate business in The Hague. During my last holiday in the summer of 2009, I've traveled through Thailand for 3 weeks, together with 3 mates! During this trip I experienced a few of the most amazing moments in my life and and concluded I'd love to see more of the world and wanted to experience at least a dozen more of this moments, before I'd be old, boring or dead! Since I'm neither old, nor boring nor dead, I recently made a final descision...  "going on a world journey around september this year and seek the adventure".

Of course this means I have to give up on important things I've got here in Holland. Besides leaving me friends and family I'm also leaving my job and my apartment. Quiting my job has been inevitable, since no boss on earth would be happy to see you take a 'holíday' of (at least) 6 months. Second, my apartment, which I currently renting through my job, will be no longer mine when I'm going away. Subletting is not an option, and neither is keeping my lease contract, because it's too much money which I simply can't afford when I want to see and do as much as possible during my trip. But hey! I'm still young and I'll stilll have my work experience and my bachelor degree from college when I come back right? Who doesn't want to hire me      :-)?! I'm sure I'll manage by the time I get back here! And not to forget, I do come from 'the promised land, where everything  is possible'  ;-)! It's not that I have to live under a bridge or something by the time I come home.

And as much I'm going to miss my friends and family here in Holland, I'm sure the reward of my journey (meeting all kinds of people, visiting the most awesome places, doing the most amazing things) will be definately worth it. So, here you go... a little background info about me and the reason why I'd like to throw myself into such a great adventure.
